“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.’      -Rumi

Better Together CT Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in North Stonington Connecticut on a working farm. It serves as a retreat for veterans, first responders and the community. We offer veteran re-training programs unique to this part of the country.

At Better Together CT, veterans spend time with the team receiving training in growing organic hemp and vegetables, utilizing sustainable regenerative farming. This is in addition to other non-agricultural training programs. The team provides training from seed to sale of our own manufactured CBD products from hemp manufactured in house. The many aspects of planting, growing, harvested, drying, curing, extracting, product making and labeling allow for a full hands-on experience for interested Veterans and allows them to create and learn new job skills.

In the future, more time will be spent learning about cutting edge aeroponic growing techniques for nutritionally dense micro greens, sprouts and other healthy vegetables. Crops are sold at our CWC Farm Store and are made available for farm to table restaurants, shared with senior citizens, and donated to local school lunch programs.

Animal therapy in the form of touch therapy with mini horses and chickens is also part of the curriculum for interested veterans.

The farm and retreat are located directly across the street from the Country Wellness Center (CWC). At the CWC holistic services are offered in conjunction with medical treatment. A special emphasis has been placed on modalities addressing PTSD and TBI along with chronic illness. A range of treatments such as a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, floating salt pod, infrared sauna, halo therapy, acupuncture, and medical massage are currently being offered.

Additionally, art classes are offered to veterans in the community as part of a healing regimen. This includes drawing, painting, sewing, collage ceramics, drumming with more options added as new volunteers join the team. A very unique feature of these classes is that their focus is on having a genuine aesthetic experience while working, the process, becoming a kind of meditation for the participant.
